FAQ

Registration FAQ

Certification isn't strictly required for every assignment, but professional credentials (court certification, medical interpreter certification, ATA certification, RID certification for ASL, etc.) are strongly preferred and required for certain legal, medical, and government assignments. List whatever credentials you hold on the registration form.

MEJPBS works in 170+ languages. Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Russian, Bengali, and ASL are consistently high-demand, but we register interpreters and translators in virtually every language pair, including less common ones.

Assignments are offered on a freelance, per-assignment basis. You choose which assignments to accept based on your availability. This is not a salaried, full-time position.

Depending on your language pair, credentials, and specialty, assignments may include telephone interpreting (OPI), video remote interpreting (VRI), on-site interpreting for courts, hospitals, or government agencies, ASL interpreting, or written document translation.

Complete the registration form with your language pairs, credentials, and availability. Our team reviews your submission and credentials, and if there's a match for current assignment needs, we'll follow up directly.

Yes. MEJPBS staffs telephone interpreting, video remote interpreting, and in-person on-site assignments across NYC and nationwide, so we register interpreters for all three formats.
