Terms of Service.
The terms governing translation, interpreting, and document services provided by MEJ Personal Business Services, Inc.
1. Services Covered
These terms apply to certified and standard document translation, telephone interpreting (OPI), video remote interpreting (VRI), on-site interpreting, sign language (ASL) interpreting, transcription, Apostille and notary services, and income tax preparation, as ordered through our website, by phone, or by email.
2. Quotes & Orders
Quotes are based on the information you provide (document length, language pair, format, and timeline). Final pricing may be adjusted if the submitted document differs materially from what was described when the quote was requested. An order is confirmed once you accept a quote and, where applicable, submit the source document(s).
3. Your Responsibilities
- Submit legible, complete source documents. Illegible or incomplete source material may delay delivery or affect translation accuracy, and MEJPBS is not responsible for errors caused by illegible source content.
- Confirm the receiving authority's specific requirements (for example, a particular USCIS field office, court, or school) before ordering, if you have special formatting or notarization needs.
- Review delivered translations promptly and notify us of any requested corrections within a reasonable time.
4. Certified Translation
Certified translations include a signed Certificate of Accuracy attesting that the translation is complete and accurate to the best of the translator's ability. USCIS certified translation does not require notarization by federal regulation, but we offer notarization on request for receiving parties that require it. MEJPBS does not control or guarantee acceptance decisions made by USCIS, courts, schools, or other third-party receiving authorities — we stand behind the accuracy of our work and will correct any translation error we are responsible for at no charge.
5. Delivery & Turnaround
Standard and rush turnaround times quoted at the time of order are estimates based on document length, language pair, and current volume. Turnaround begins once we receive a complete, legible source document and, where applicable, payment or a confirmed purchase order.
6. Payment
Payment terms are set at the time of quote. Invoices may be paid online through our invoice payment portal, by check, or by other method agreed in writing. Work on new orders may be paused for accounts with an outstanding balance past terms.
7. Cancellations
Document translation orders may be cancelled before work has begun for a full refund. Once translation work has started, you will be billed for work completed to that point. Scheduled interpreting assignments cancelled with less than the notice period confirmed at booking may be subject to a cancellation fee, consistent with standard interpreting industry practice.
8. Confidentiality
We treat client documents as confidential and share them only with personnel and assigned freelance interpreters/translators necessary to complete your order. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
9. Limitation of Liability
MEJPBS's liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount paid for the specific order giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including delays or losses caused by third-party receiving authorities, postal/courier services, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
10. Interpreter & Translator Registrations
Registering through our careers page does not guarantee assignment. MEJPBS reviews credentials against current assignment needs at its discretion. Assignments offered to registered interpreters and translators are freelance, per-assignment engagements, not employment.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or our services will be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction in New York County, New York.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Terms in effect at the time you place an order govern that order.
